Twenty-five years after Bob Geldof’s campaign raised millions to help victims of the famine then devastating Ethiopia, it continues to cast a long shadow. Development experts may argue over what kind of legacy Band Aid/Live Aid left behind in Ethiopia and in the wider aid sphere, but few dispute its role in raising public awareness of the possibilities of humanitarian assistance.
